Our beginner gun dog weekends are designed to get you and your dog off to a great start. Here's what you will get:

Prerequisites:
All dogs participating in the Beginner Gun Dog weekend must be at least six months of age, have their permanent teeth, be up to date on all required vaccinations and be in excellent physical condition and able to work intensively throughout the two day program. Dogs should be able to carry out their basic obedience tasks (loose leash walking, sit, stay and recall) outdoors in the presence of other dogs and people. Prior attendance at a positive training class is desirable. Contact us for further information.
The Beginner Gun Dog Test
The beginner gun dog award is within reach of every dog and handler team that participates in our program. Here are the requirements for a beginner retriever:
Obedience:
Heel on lead for 20 yards Sit on a single command Sit stay for 2 minutes with handler 20 yards away Recall on a single command
Retrieving:
Retrieve two dummies, thrown one at a time in low cover at distances of 25 and 30 yards
